Potty Training

Colden started showing interest in using the potty back in March 2012 - just before his 2nd birthday (see "Pee Pee in the Potty" post).  So, we got him a little Sesame Street seat for the potty and started encouraging him to use the potty.  We didn't really push the idea though because we wanted to make sure he was truly ready first.

But as you can see, he loved using the potty!

He especially liked ripping off toilet paper and flushing:

We got to the point where Colden would consistently go on the potty at least a couple of times a day, but we were still holding off on the active potty training...I think more because Mike and I were afraid of the commitment (...and laundry).

But today was the day.  Colden started potty training at school, so whether we were ready or not, we were starting to potty train.  Today.  Colden's teacher told us to send him into school in underwear - no more diapers, no more pull-ups.  Just underwear.  So, over the weekend we bought Colden 4 packages of underwear (Yes, 28 pairs of underwear!  I'm not doing laundry every night).  Train underwear.  Car underwear.  Sesame Street underwear.

(How cute are these?!?)

Colden was so excited to put on his underwear this morning.
"Underwear like mommy and daddy?  Yay!"
He put on his first pair of underwear all by himself.  He picked out train underwear:

Two thumbs up from my big boy - all ready to go to school for the first time wearing underwear!

He only had one accident all day, which sadly happened right as he was walking into school.  Aside from that one time, he stayed dry from 8am all the way until bedtime at 8pm.  We are so proud of our little man!

By the way, he already went and picked out his underwear for tomorrow.  Another pair of train underwear is laying on his floor waiting to be put on tomorrow morning.  :-)
