What do you do with an energetic boy on a too-hot-to-go-outside day? Why, bake (aka: make a mess out of the kitchen but have tons of fun doing it)...of course!
With our whisk and measuring spoon in hand, we were ready to make our banana-zucchini bread!
Colden did an awesome job pouring in the ingredients...
(Although he had a hard time pouring in the applesauce. He much preferred trying to sneak in a taste or two)
...shredding the zucchini...
...and mixing the ingredients...
I have to admit, I was a little nervous to see how the banana-zucchini bread was going to come out - especially considering:
...the chef thought the apron was a cape and wanted to fly around the house
...half of the ingredients ended up on the floor
...and the chef's idea of "cleaning up" was to lick the spilled ingredients up - even if they happened to be on his foot!
(Don't worry, these loaves of bread will be consumed only by immediate family. We kiss his feet everyday anyways...)
SURPRISINGLY, the breads rose (I guess we didn't spill out all of the baking powder/soda after all) and tasted amazing!
Of course the chef had to taste his own creation, so I said he could rip off a small corner before I cut him a piece.
(happy, and apparently hungry boy)
After reaching for a knife behind me, I turned around to catch the chef devouring his bread:
I guess it's a good sign when the chef enjoys his own masterpieces this much!!
Bon Appetit!
