Reese: Sleeping Bag

At school, Reese has graduated from the crib to a sleeping bag!

Once the babies are able to stand up in the crib, they have to sleep in a sleeping bag in the "big kid" sleeping area (aka: a completely enclosed, carpeted corner of the room).

So...we bought Reese her very own sleeping bag:

(She looks so little in comparison!)

Her first day in the sleeping bag was last Tuesday (August 13th).  

According to her teachers, she has been doing very well in her sleeping bag and has been taking two 1.5-hour naps a day in it.  Way to go, Reesie-Girl!

Reese: Crawling

It's official:  Reese is now on the move!

How did Reese celebrate her first day of crawling?  She ran right into a chair leg and gave herself a nice bruise.  

Lesson #1: You have to crawl around objects

Reese: 9 Months Old

9-month checkup at the doctor's office:

Weight: 18 pounds, 1 ounce

Length: 27.5 inches

At 9 months old, Reese is on the verge of crawling.

She'll get this look in her eyes...she's spotted something:

She'll get into position:

(She'll even take a crawling "step" or two)

Then she'll plop down on her stomach and get frustrated:

She'll realize that she's got to keep trying and will reach for the object:

And then she'll scoot herself until she gets it:

...such hard work!

Reese is quite funny.  She might skip crawling altogether!  Immediately after getting into the crawling position from sitting, she will extend both of her legs and stick her butt straight in the air!

...and that's how she's trying to get around!

Reese has mastered holding her own bottle

So, we started her on a sippy cup for water.  

She couldn't quite figure out how to tilt it back (while sitting up):

So, Colden showed her how to do it

(He then decided that perhaps it would be best to help Reese by showing her how to hold it herself)

We've also been working on having Reese eat more finger foods.  Reese loves eating solid foods and chunks of food that you put into her mouth...she's just not a fan of actually picking it up herself.  She will pick up crackers and Cheerios, but nothing that is cold (i.e. cheese) or mushy/slimy (i.e. avocado, banana).

She'll eat it if you put it on a spoon, but she is quick to tell you that she is full by waving her hands in front of her face and shaking her head "no"

We went to get Reese out of her crib in the morning the other day and she greeted us for the first time while sitting in her crib. 

She was so proud of herself!

Reese loves clapping 

And she loves music and rocking along to the beat.  She's even started singing along by saying, "lalala" when she hears people singing.

And I'm trying to capture as many toothless grins as possible, because even though you can't quite see it yet...you can definitely feel her first tooth coming in on the bottom!
