Memorial Day Weekend

Another year...
Another Memorial Day weekend...
Another great vacation!

It was a hot weekend, so we decided to fill up Colden's baby pool so that he could go swimming and cool off.

He loved splashing around...

But didn't exactly like getting into the pool itself...

At least not while there was water in the pool.

Instead of getting IN the cold water, we thought that maybe he would like it better ON the cold water - so we took Colden on his first boat ride.

Surprisingly, he didn't mind the life jacket.  And perhaps, not so surprisingly - he loved the boat ride!

After we were done with the water activities, Colden and my dad gave everyone a little concert.  Colden taught my dad how to play a pot:

And my dad taught Colden how to play the accordion:

I think Colden's favorite activity the whole weekend was playing with his purple chair.  It was the perfect size!
 ...for wrestling

 ...for sitting

...and for stacking water bottles on.

I think everyone had a great long weekend!
Ilona ("Safta"), dad ("Saba") and Colden

Take a look back to see Colden's first annual trip down to the lake for Memorial Day weekend.  A lot has changed since then!

Looking forward to many, many more!

Self-Feeding

Look out floors!
Look out walls!
Colden is feeding himself with a spoon!

The Swiffer

As Colden moves through life, he will find passions for different things.  Some passions may last long enough to get him through a single T-Ball season.  Other passions may last just long enough for us to pay for a four-year education.  Either way, we will support him and we will try to create opportunities for him to pursue those passions.

At 13 months old, Colden loves to carry things...

And Colden loves to pack up his wagon and drag it all around the house...

So, Mike and I started thinking:  If carrying things and pulling things around the house is what Colden likes to do, then we should be supportive parents and encourage him  :-)

Enter the wonderful invention known as the "Swiffer".

As you can see, he loves swiffering.  And as loving and caring parents, who are we to stand in his way?!?

(By the way, Colden also likes to do laundry..)

Philly Broad Street Run

Two weeks ago we watched Mike run the Boston Marathon
Yesterday I ran the Philadelphia Broad Street 10-mile Run.

My goal (aside from crossing the finish line in one piece) was to run the 10 miles in less time than it took the top marathoner to finish Boston's 26.2 miles.
Goal accomplished.  By approximately 20 minutes.  :-)

My two fans, Mike and Colden, waited for me by the finish line (which was at the Navy Yard in Philly).
By the time I ran by...

Colden was fast asleep.  I guess I took a little too long.

But I finished!  And I have a medal to prove it!
(Yes, Colden - I feel the same way!)

While I was running, Mike registered Colden in the kid's section. Colden got his own race t-shirt and racing bib.  I was number 11562.  Colden was number 1.  :-)

...A sign of things to come?
