Colden - the Big Brother

We've tried to explain to Colden that he is going to be a big brother soon, but when it's hard enough for adults to understand "the miracle" of having a baby...you can imagine that the concept is way above a 2.5-year-old's head.

We bought some books hoping it would help him understand:

And if you ask him "where's the baby?" - he will point to my tummy.  He's even kissed my belly and waved hi to my belly (when prompted)...but we can't help but laugh when he asks me to open my belly so that he can see the baby.  If only it was that easy!  :-)

Some days he will randomly talk about his "baby sister", or he will tell someone that he has a "baby brother in his tummy just like mommy".  It sounds like he wants to know the sex of the baby just as much as we do!  Only a few more weeks left!

You can see in the above picture that the book "Big Enough for a Bed" is mixed in there.  We bought that book to try to help transition Colden to a big boy bed so that he would be out of the crib well in advance of Tot's arrival.

To our surprise, Colden was one step ahead of us (as he usually is).  HE was the one who wanted to move to a big boy bed - before WE were ready for him to.  In fact, the first time we read that book to him, Colden had already been sleeping soundly in his new big boy bed for several nights!

(the "Big Boy Room" post will come shortly).
